Making a unique mask is easy with V-Sure Alginate and Zellaan.
Using the mould and casting plaster, you can create clear prints of an existing model.
But what if you want to go a step further, what if you want to make lifelike copies?
Then get to work with V-Sure Silskin.
In this article you will learn how to get started with this realistic silicone skin step by step.

Step-by-step plan
The Silicone Silskin is a two-component product, which means that you have to mix both parts together to obtain a workable product.
- STEP 1: We start with an existing mask, for example made of Zellaan. You will discover how to quickly make a mould and mask based on V-Sure Alginate and Zellaan.
- STEP 2: We then prepare the Silicone Silskin.
- STEP 3: We mix both components thoroughly in a 1:1 ratio. After mixing thoroughly we obtain a thick liquid that we will carefully pour onto the prepared mask.
- STEP 4: If desired, during the mixing of both components, you can add silicon pigments to provide the mask with unique colours.
- STEP 5: After applying the silicone to the mask, you can spread it carefully with a spatula.
Note: At room temperature you have a pot life of approximately 7 minutes.
- STEP 6: The Silicone Silskin will be dry after at least 30 minutes. If desired you can allow it to harden completely for the next 24 hours.
- STEP 7: Finally you can apply make-Up to the mask, just like a real face.
The great thing about working with Silskin is its skin-friendly character and neutral colour. This means that you can also work directly on the skin. In that case, work in very thin layers because the silicone is rather fluid.
In this way you can also cover partial parts of your face or body to make spooky creations for Halloween, a fake nose for your play or a fake wound to use during your first aid training.
