Bending strength

The bending strength of a material indicates the stresses or forces one must subject the material to before it bends.

Bending stress

Bending stress is the stress to which a material is subjected before it bends.

Binder

A binder is a means of binding certain substances to give them better mechanical properties

Binder material

Binder material ensures sufficient air transport during vacuuming so that the pressure in the vacuum bag is equal in all places. Also, this material absorbs excess resin. After the resin cures, the bleed mat together with the perforated film (perforex) are removed. After this, the tear tissue (peel ply) can be removed.

Bio-resin

Is a resin that is (partially) made from renewable or natural raw materials such as e.g. our bio-based epoxy. For more info see; https://www.v-sure.eu/en/products/epoxy/bio-epoxy-resin/

Biocomposites

Natural fibres and bio-resins in engineering applications. Biobased composites, fibre-reinforced plastics made wholly or partly from renewable raw materials.

Biodegradable polymers

Consist of polymers that are completely broken down by micro-organisms.

Bitumen

Bitumen is a substance used for lining road surfaces. It can withstand both high static loads and dynamic forces. The wearing course is resistant to rutting and to hydrocarbons.

Bituminous

Bituminous is the adjective derived from bitumen. Bituminous roofing material is capable of repairing damage caused by moisture.Binder material ensures sufficient air transport during vacuuming so that the pressure in the vacuum bag is equal in all places. Also, this material absorbs excess resin. After the resin cures, the bleed mat together with the perforated film (perforex) are removed. After this, the tear tissue (peel ply) can be removed.

Blitz mass

Blitz compound is a two-component polyurethane resin, which is very thinly liquid . It is used as casting material in model making, namely as prototype material for both the workpiece and the mould. Blitz mass can be milled and turned extremely well. Furthermore, it hardens quickly (demoulding time 20 minutes). Blitz mass can also be used to cast electronics, making them vibration-free and waterproof. For more info, see; https://www.v-sure.eu/en/products/polyurethane/pu-casting-resin-coating/

BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound)

BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound) is a dough-like mass placed in the mould. This mass consists of glass fibres (about 6 mm long), fillers and resin. BMC is largely similar to SMC. The difference between BMC and SMC concerns the raw material. BMC is relatively short-fibre compared to SMC. So for large areas, this technique is not suitable. Furthermore, the raw material is more difficult to handle than SMC.

Boat cleaner

Boat cleaner as a cleaning agent for polyester boats. For more info: https://www.v-sure.eu/en/cleaner-degreaser-1-l

Boat epoxy system

In the boat epoxy system, the epoxy resin provides an optimal bond with the wood and the glass fabric for strength. Allowing lightweight structures to be built.

Boat polish

Boat polishing paste that gives extra protection and a deeper high gloss to the surface of polyester boats. Look for more info: https://www.v-sure.eu/en/knowlegde-center/inspiration/cleaning-and-sanding-your-boat-optimal/

Boat wax

Boat-wax is a wax based on the best brazilian carnauba wax. This wax guarantees longer protection of the treated surface thanks to built-in UV stabilisers. The wax is applied with a sponge or soft cloth in a circular motion. A few minutes later, you can polish out the hardened wax and bring it to gloss. for more info; https://www.v-sure.eu/en/boat-wax-200-g

BP hardener paste

BP hardener paste is a BPO hardener in the form of a paste for polyester resins and putties.

BPO hardener

A BPO hardener allows a fast-drying resin to cure even at lower temperatures.

Break rack

Elongation or elongation at break indicates a mechanical property. The elongation indicates the relative elongation at which the material actually breaks through. When a material has a high elongation, it is called tough. Materials with low elongation are called brittle.

Bros

Brittle materials are materials with low elongation. The elongation indicates the relative elongation at which a material really breaks through. Tough materials are the opposite of brittle materials.
