Peel ply

Tear tissues are used in both vacuuming and manual lamination. This involves applying the tear fabric over the last layer of the total build to strip off the top layer later during the curing process, which saves a lot of sanding but also produces a smoother end result

Perforex film

These are used to more or less control the resin flow during vacuuming. Sufficient resin must remain in the laminate to make a good bond between the fibres themselves and any core material. For this reason, various films are available with many or few perforations. for more info: https://www.v-sure.eu/en/vacuum-perforex-ela20p1-h1200-5-m2

Phenolic resin

Phenolic resin is a synonym for phenolic resin. The raw material for phenolic resin is phenol formaldehyde. Phenol formaldehyde resins are formed by a condensation reaction between a phenol and an aldehyde. Typically, phenolic resin is used in combination with other binders. Phenolic resin finds its application in acid-curing paints, interior painting products and boat paints, among others.

Phlegmatising

Phlegmatisation is making substances less reactive or non-explosive by adding inerting substances.

Pickling

Pickling has two meanings. Firstly, it is a procedure to give wood an attractive appearance. An additional advantage here is that staining gives protection against moisture. There are water- and oil-based stains. All types of wood can be stained. It is important to prepare the wood properly by sanding it smooth and making it dust-free. Stain can be applied with a brush as well as with a cloth. Secondly, pickling is also the name for treating metals with (weak) acids. Pickling deeply cleans the surface and removes, for example, mill scale. Pickling is therefore done in preparation for applying an additional surface layer, or to bring out the crystal structure better for microscopic examination.

Plaster jute method

The plaster-jute method is a patent-protected method that can be used when constructing a swimming pool. When the side wall of the swimming pool of any shape is to have a 45-degree and sloping slope, this is the most appropriate method. This method properly prepares the substrate for rolling out glass mats with polyester resin. Indeed, jute fabric soaked in gypsum paste provides a closed layer, so the surface can be directly covered by glass mats with resin. To coat the substrate with glass mats with resin, two requirements must be met. Firstly, the substrate must be hard enough when glass mats with resin are rolled out on the substrate, so that when the glass mat is drenched the air bubbles between the fibres are rolled out. Secondly, the substrate must be a closed layer so that the syrupy polyester resin is not sucked out of the glass mat by the soil. Because the resin remains liquid for 40 minutes after being applied to the glass mat, most of it would otherwise seep into the surface. With the gypsum-jute method, the substrate fully meets these two requirements.

Polishing

Bringing back to gloss using fine polishing paper (slurry) and a polishing paste of a plastic surface. For more information, see https://www.v-sure.eu/en/knowlegde-center/inspiration/cleaning-and-sanding-your-boat-optimal/

Polyester

Unsaturated polyester (UP) comprises a diversity of resins that find their application in numerous applications. They are usually used in combination with fibre for reinforcement. For more info, visit; https://www.v-sure.eu/en/products/polyester/

Polymer concrete

Polyconcrete or polymer concrete is a resin and sand combination that are mixed together to produce an extremely strong, waterproof and chemically resistant mortar. Depending on the amount of sand added to the resin, the resin remains pourable or can be processed like a mortar. As for the resin, one can use an epoxy or the cheaper polyester resin here.

Polyurethane

Polyurethanes ( PUR) comprise a wide range of resins and foams. They consist of a polyol and an isocyanate. for more info, see: https://www.v-sure.eu/en/products/polyurethane/

Pressure deformation

Pressure deformation is the deformation of a material due to pressure, also known as creep.

Pressure gun

A pressure gun is used as an alternative to canisters with a hose. Using a pressure gun reduces the residual by an average of 70 grams compared to canisters with a tube.

Pressure loading

Pressure is the load applied by pressure.

Pressure resistance

Pressure resistance expresses the resistance the material offers to pressure.

Pressurised

Pressure resistant means resistant to pressure. Pressure resistance indicates the extent to which the material can withstand pressure loads.
