Kieselguhr filter

The kieselguhr filter is a filter that can filter the finest particles in the water. The so-called coarse filters, which work with pebbles or plastic sponges, can only become effective in connection with flocculants (such as aluminium sulphate). These flocculants are shaken into the water and cause the fine turbidifying particles to coalesce into larger clumps so that they can be collected. Unfortunately, this is not always completely successful, so crystal clear water can only be achieved with diatomaceous earth filters. Kieselguhr is the finest filter material that traps very fine turbidity particles.
