Elasticity | What is elasticity?
Elasticity is the ability of a material to spring back to its original shape after undergoing deformation. A perfectly elastic material springs back immediately upon removal of the mechanical load, with the work done to cause the deformation being returned in full. When deformation and recovery occur with a slight delay, the restoration of shape and the removal of the load may be complete, but some work is nevertheless lost as heat.
