Polyester is a strong synthetic material that is ideally suited for the construction of a regular, swimming or mirror pond. A polyester pond is very popular and offers many advantages over foil as a material.

How do I construct a polyester pond myself?

Pond construction kit and extensive step-by-step plan

Polyester resin is a cold-curing synthetic material that is applied in combination with glass mat to a solid substrate such as concrete. Concrete is extremely suitable for the construction of a regular, mirror or swimming pond. For the construction of a regular, swimming or reflecting pond in glass fibre reinforced polyester we have a handy step-by-step plan that will guide you through the entire process.

In our webshop we offer various pond kits that consist of all products and tools for the construction of a polyester pond. So you immediately have all products of V-Sure in the correct quantity for the construction of your pond. You can choose from packages for ponds of 10 m², 20 m², 40 m² and 80 m².

Flexovoss K6S

Here we recommend the 2-component polyurethane resin type K6S for the electrical insulation of components making them waterproof.

Repairing leaking water pipes made of metal, copper, lead or PVC

Epoxy Solomet

Here we recommend the fast-curing epoxy paste Solomet. This is a 2-component epoxy paste for sealing leaking water pipes, even on a wet substrate.

How to make polyester adhere to PVC

PVC Primer

We recommend the special PVC primer, to obtain a better adhesion of the liquid polyester and fibreglass to existing PVC pipes and connections.

Flexovoss K6S

Here we advise to fill the hollow space between the two parts of PVC with Flexovoss K6S, an odourless and shrink-resistant casting resin based on 2-component polyurethane. This resin has perfect adhesion to various substrates and will harden in a tough elastic way.

Repairing a crack in polyester under water

Topcoat T35-1

H30 Azur Laminating resin

In this case we recommend using Solomet, an epoxy kneading paste that also cures under water. This is, however, a temporary solution. As soon as possible the water should be removed and a definitive repair carried out using the liquid polyester resin H30-Azur and 450 g/m2 glass mat. Then finish the whole with a Topcoat T35-1.
