Products to protect the underwater hull of a metal boat
Protecting and repairing underwater hulls
Repairing metal below the waterline
A metal boat needs specific treatment below the waterline. Iron can rust and corrode over the years due to weathering and excessive growth of algae and organisms. This damages the final layer and, in the next stage, your metal plate.
You can repair this without problems or also take preventive action by following the steps below:
Step 1: Cleaning the surface with the C1 bottom Cleaner
- This powerful cleaner will quickly and efficiently remove dirt, shells and hull fouling.
- Sand the surface thoroughly and make sure all loose parts have been removed.
- Allow the surface to dry sufficiently before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Sealing the substrate with Epoxy Anticorrosion primer
- Epoxy Anticorrosion primer has a very high resistance and is a good barrier to water. On metal, it also gives additional protection against rust.
- Apply two coats of the Epoxy Anticorrosion primer to seal the substrate.
Step 3: Filling blemishes with Epoxy Filler
- Use an Epoxy filler to fill imperfections.
- For filling millimetres, you can use Epoxy Universal filler.
- For filling centimetres, it is better to apply the Epoxy Fiberglass filler.
Step 4: Application of waterproof protective coating with Epoxy Light primer
- Seal the surface waterproof with the minimum of 5 coats with the Epoxy Light primer.
- The epoxy primer also provides osmosis protection for several years.
Step 5: Finish with an antifouling
